"Hunting through the Regulations for Day Care Center Staff"

Course Description:

Every child care provider in New York State agrees to abide by the NYS OCFS regulations for child day care. When was the last time you read them? Do you have a current copy that is easily accessible in your program? Are you familiar enough with them to refer to the regulations in conversations with parents? This course will help you by offering a few tips on navigating the regulations and asking you to locate a variety of regulations.

The goal of this course is to increase your knowledge about, and familiarity with, the NYS OCFS child day care regulations. To do this you will

  • 1. Access the regulations.
  • 2. Organize the regulations for regular use.
  • 3. Locate 25 specific regulations.

To complete this course you must have a current copy of the New York State Office of Children and Family Services Child Day Care Regulations for your modality (the 418-1’s). Regulations are available on line at http://ocfs.ny.gov/main/childcare/daycare_regulations.asp. You may work on line, print the regulations, or download them. You may also call your licensor and ask that a copy of the regulations be mailed to you. Also, Training Unlimited is willing to email a set of the current regulations to you at no charge—just ask.

This course provides 3 hours of training in New York State Office of Children and Family Services regulation area (7) Statutes and Regulations pertaining to Child Day Care. It has 50 multiple choice questions: 25 questions assess your ability to identify the meaning of the regulation and 25, the location of those regulations. Each question is worth two points. A score of 80% must be achieved to pass this course (40 correct answers).

Once Training Unlimited is notified of your purchase by PayPal, your course will be emailed directly to you. If you prefer the course be mailed to you, please state that in the “instructions” section of the PayPal payment page, or call Lynn Morris. Courses may also be purchased by check or money order, or by a valid, signed Educational Incentive Program voucher available at https://www.ecetp.pdp.albany.edu/eip.shtm if you qualify.

If your score is 80% or higher, your answer page, with comments, will be mailed or emailed to you within one week of its receipt by Training Unlimited. Your certificate will be mailed the same day your course is corrected.

If you receive a grade less than 80%, you will receive a phone call, a letter, or an email and have the opportunity to correct your work. A certificate will then be mailed to you indicating you have passed the course. Your course must be corrected and your score must reach 80% to receive a certificate.

For any questions regarding this course, please contact Lynn Morris at Training Unlimited by calling 518-669-3494 or emailing info@trainingunlimitedonline.com.

All certificates are mailed to you; there are no exceptions. However, certificates can be emailed directly to a licensor or registrar.
